McCord Park Sculpture Garden

More About the Sculptures

There's an exciting opportunity coming to McCord Park. If you're not familiar with McCord Park, you probably pass it perhaps daily or at the very least weekly. It's located at the intersection of Thomasville Road and Armistead Road. It's one of our hidden gems in plain view to thousands of motorists every day.

For Betton Hills' homeowners, it is a passive neighborhood park filled with wildlife and scenic views in the middle of our growing city. And we plan to keep it that way with an added benefit – A City of Tallahassee Sculpture Garden with limited pieces by nationally recognized artist and Tallahassee native W. Stanley “Sandy” Proctor.

As many of know, Sandy's works are seen around the country from the Florida Governor's Mansion to the White House. He has received the highest honor given to a Florida artist by being inducted into the Florida Artist Hall of Fame. We already have sponsors for a few of the pieces and additionally have a donor that has contributed their privately owned Sandy Proctor sculpture valued at over $90,000. The remainder of the funding will come from additional private donations. We have a goal of raising $75,000 and your participation and support will go a long way towards reaching that goal.

With all the discussion in our community regarding growth and the impact it has on our neighborhoods, this represents an opportunity to help maintain an existing neighborhood park and improve it to an even higher level.
